The only way to find out exactly how many calories you need to eat is by doing the Resting Metabolism Test -it's the Gold Standard method, used in ICU’s to determine calorie consumption. How it’s done- During this assessment you will be resting in a comfortable position for 15 to 20 minutes. You will be breathing into a mouth piece or mask and wearing a heart rate monitor chest strap while your resting metabolism is being calculated. Your results will tell you how many calories to eat, and how many calories is too low for your body.

If you’re working out and not seeing the results you want, you may be training too intensely or not hard enough. Knowing what heart rates your body is burning the most amount of fat will be key to seeing results.

The only way to know where your heart rate zones are is to do the Exercise/ VO2 Test. With this test, you’ll see the specific heart rate you're burning the most amount of fat and what heart rate you're crossing over the Anaerobic Threshold (where you’re only burning sugar). Once you’ve pinpointed these key numbers and follow the plan, you’ll start seeing results again.

EXERCISE/ VO2 TEST

Exercise VO2 Test will let you know:

  • What heart rate you're burning the most amount of fat during exercise

  • What heart rate you hit your Anaerobic Threshold and only burn sugar

How it’s done- During this assessment you will be on a treadmill or bike. The intensity of the exercise is gradually increased for 8-10 minutes taking you to your anaerobic threshold. You will be wearing a heart rate monitor chest strap and breathing into a mask while your optimal training zones are being pin pointed.
